Chinatown Rotary Club distributes gift bags to SRO families at Super Sunday

The Chinatown Rotary Club distributed 200 gift bags full of daily use items to families residing in single-room occupancy buildings at Chinatown CDC\'s Super Sunday meeting on February 26th.

One of my first jobs as a high schooler was working as a Busboy at Muir Woods Inn. I really needed to get away from the distractions and turbulence of San Francisco. I remember

  enjoying the quiet outdoors and singing the song "Mill Valley" to the Youth who visited from Chinatown. I learned a lot about the nation in Muir Woods, like, for every food a redwood tree grows taller, its roots must grow by three feet!

Chinatown CDC honored Mayor Edwin Lee, Mayor Ed Lee, Ms. Anni Chung, Mr. Randy Shaw and Mr. Alex Tom at our 6th Annual Lunar New Year Luncheon for their leadership, dedication and sustaining commitment to the community. The Gordon Chin Community Leadership Fund honors and expands the extraordinary community development work that Gordon has led and personified locally and nationally for more than three decades.  "You can never have enough leadership" is a phrase
which Gordon has often used in this thirty four year tenure as founding Executive Director of the Chinatown CDC. This campaign seeks to raise $1 million by spring 2012 to support three important leadership goals of the Chinatown CDC. Funds will be used to expand our community leadership programs and to enhance our ability to respond quickly to address important community issues.
